The Lilium Auratum var. Platyphyllum, also known as Tametomo Lily in Izu Oshima, is endemic to the Izu Islands. t has fewer reddish-brown spots on its petals, wider leaves and a stronger fragrance than the mountain lily. In Izu Oshima there are some with spots and some without.

It grows in light woodland or at the edge of woodland, and is said to be the world's largest lily of the genus in terms of both height and size, with large white flowers of 25-30cm in diameter and 150-200cm in height. In the Caldera it flowers from late July to early August.
